“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was entirely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
