Pick of the Week
This Satirical Thriller
Director Coralie Fargeat's daring critique tackles the tyranny of women's appearance along with the feared consequences of growing older. The veteran actress delivers a brilliant portrayal as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress forced into presenting a workout series on TV. Pushed out thanks to her unscrupulous employer Harvey, played by Dennis Quaid, she turns to an enigmatic and gruesome treatment called this experimental method. This produces a new version of herself called Sue, leading to an increasingly parasitic dynamic between them. This Friday, the streaming service Paramount+
The Woman in Cabin 10
This classic whodunit thriller stars Knightley in the role of Laura, an ace reporter who takes a hiatus from reporting on world issues to board a high-end voyage accompanied by an ailing Norwegian shipping heiress and charitable figure, her partner, and other affluent passengers. Presence Film
Soderbergh tests his creative boundaries through this clever paranormal narrative filmed completely through the eyes of the phantom. After a clan including mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe occupies their fresh home, the lens – as the unseen entity – tracks their movements. The teen shows signs of conscious of the poltergeist, and it seems defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, featuring a surprise you might not see coming. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy
Cage wholeheartedly adopts his unique fame via this self-referential adventure. He plays a self-obsessed celebrity called Nicolas Cage who agrees to a $1m payday to appear at a birthday party in Mallorca for the rich Javi Gutierrez. This Creepy Thriller
Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller remains effective despite the lack of a follow-up. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, multiple kidnappings has rendered the children anxious. After Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and locked up in a basement, he fears a fatal end. However, the disconnected phone in the room repeatedly calls, with spooky callers offering help, and the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen might rescue him. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, on Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for greed in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky true story regarding the shamed televangelist and her felon spouse. The actor acts as the venal Jim, who states initially, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple commence monetising the nation's Christian beliefs. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, yet Chastain succeeds to depict the character with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, the Film4 channel
The Spy Mystery
The current week's another release from the filmmaker is a spy mystery as sharp like the turtlenecks sported by Michael Fassbender's British agent. He is tasked to discover a double agent within their ranks out of five possibilities – one of whom is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. The two stars are experts of understated style, resulting in an engaging mind game of fact versus fiction takes place. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela participate the smart espionage amusement. Friday 17 October, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
