The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie โ who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college โ getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
